Common Questions About CSC and DVA Claims

  • Yes. You can apply for a retrospective medical discharge years after leaving the ADF.

    CSC will assess whether your medical condition at the time of discharge meant you should have been medically transitioned. If successful, this may result in eligibility for an invalidity pension, depending on your assessed capacity for civilian employment.

  • CSC and DVA assess claims differently and serve different purposes.

    CSC focuses on your capacity to work in civilian employment at the time of discharge, which determines eligibility for an invalidity pension.

    DVA focuses on service-related conditions and compensation, regardless of your discharge classification.

    Because of this, a condition accepted by DVA does not automatically mean you will qualify for a CSC pension.
